Sidney Poitier and his daughter, Sydney, star in this engrossing drama about a middle-aged investment broker who is reintroduced to his former career as a teacher when he meets a teenager from South Central L.A.'s housing projects. With a mother whois mostly drunk and a dead-end life, the teen - after witnessing a robbery and murder - decides she wants something different for her life. When she approaches her former third-grade teacher, who is now immersed in a high-risk investment deal, she challenges him to make a difference in her life.
